Lake Oconee Academy is pleased to introduce Patrick Stewart as the new head of the school wide football program for the upcoming school year.
Stewart played college football at Middle Tennessee State University under Coach Rick Stockstill. Coach Stockstill instilled his passion for coaching and leading young men. After college, Stewart was a Defensive Assistant for the University of Georgia under Coach Kirby Smart where he learned how a successful and high-standard program is run.
Stewart most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator for LOA. Prior to that, he was the Running Backs/Linebackers coach and the Special Teams/Recruiting Coordinator at George Walton Academy in Monroe, Ga. He was also the Head Football Coach for Loganville Christian Academy reenergizing the program to finish as the runner-up in the region and reaching the 2nd round of state playoffs. He earned the 2019 Coach of The Year for Walton County.
Stewart’s passion is helping student athletes realize their dreams and aspire to reach the next level. While at GWA and LCA, he ensured 100% of the student athletes who wanted to play at the collegiate level were able to achieve their dream to play college football on scholarship.
Stewart and his wife Jordan have lived in the lake area for a year now and look forward to continuing to be involved and grow with this community.
Chris Ingle, LOA’s Director of Athletics and Activities said, “Coach Stewart is the type of coach that players love to play for. He deeply invests in the student-athletes' lives as a coach, mentor, and role-model. Combining this with his high level of football knowledge and experience makes him a great fit to carry the football program forward.”
“I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to be the Head Football Coach at LOA. My number one goal is to get young men excited about the sport that has had such a tremendous influence on my life.” Coach Stewart said, “Even though we are in the very early years of the program at LOA, I want to see our numbers grow. To try to accomplish this, we offer camps, clinics, speed and agility training, and off season conditioning to all grades 1-12 throughout the year. With the facilities, administrative support, parent support, and student-athlete buy-in, I know that we can be a competitive program in the near future.”
“Coach Stewart is the type of person that we want to lead and develop the young men of Lake Oconee Academy. We are excited that he has accepted the role of developing the football program and look forward to his success.” stated Dr. Otho Tucker, CEO of Lake Oconee Academy.
