LOA Celebrates 5 Finalist Selected for the Governor’s Honors Program

The county level nominees for the Governor’s Honors Program this year reflected true intellectual curiosity, a strong passion for their field of study, and excellence in and out of the classroom. However, Greene County is only offered five spots for state level nominees.

Lake Oconee Academy would like to congratulate the following students who have been selected as this year’s state level nominees: Summer Abramson, Remi Baker, Elisa Garcia-Carreras, Aiden Turner, and Justin Zahler.

Over the last few years, LOA has had only four students selected as finalists to participate in the Governor’s Honors Program. If you are familiar with the vast number of extremely gifted and talented graduates from Greene County High School and Lake Oconee Academy over that time, you will agree that this is a tiny number of our scholars.

According to the 2019 GHP Evaluation Report, schools and districts nominated 3,170 students from 432 public, private, and home schools across Georgia for GHP. Only 644 students were selected as finalists.
Since the Governor's Honors Program is the most prestigious opportunity in the state of Georgia for high school students, we are thrilled to have our students move on to the state level of the competition.

Please congratulate these scholars when you see them!
