Administrative Update for 2022 - 2023 School Year

All,

I hope everyone is having a great summer with friends and family. One thing for sure, those of you who love the heat of summer are having a summer to remember!

This note is to give you the general layout of the academic administrative team. It will help you as we work toward the opening of the new school year…in about a month!

Lower School

The Lower School Director will be Katelyn Mellow. She will be responsible for student, parent, and teacher relations and information. She will be your go to for all operational aspects of the Lower School grades Pre-K through grade 5. Our Curriculum Coordinator for these grades will be Mackenzie Kelly. Her role will be staff development and curriculum implementation. Georgette Magness will be leading the counseling for the Lower School.

Middle School

The Middle School Director will be Dr. Beverly Montgomery. She will have student, parent, and teacher communications for grades 6-8 and will assist with some student outreach. As in the Lower School, Dr. Montgomery will be your main point of contact for Middle School needs. Chrishandra Perkins will be assisting teachers in both the Middle and Upper School as they continue to build their personalized learning lessons. She will also be our school-wide testing coordinator.

Upper School

Dr. Brad Bowling will be the Upper School Director having those duties as stated above. Also, Dr. Bowling is the National Special Education Director of the Year this past year. He will be reviewing our special education department needs with Keetah Singleton to further develop our special education program. Dr. Bowling is your contact for Upper School operational and academic questions.

John Noto will be focused on academic counseling in grades 6-12. He will be implementing a greatly expanded version of the Naviance software that will lay out a path for your child’s graduation starting in the 5th grade. Obviously, there will be changes with scheduling and class selection along the way. However, having this path laid out for the students will allow parents and students to see how course changes will impact future classes and academic opportunities. This information is important in building a transcript that will best prepare the students to apply to their colleges of choice.

Ricardo Patton will be the Dean of Students and Thomas Davis will be assisting him. Thomas comes to us with an extensive background of working with adolescent students.

Please make these people your first point of contact when you have any questions regarding a student in their division.

Thank you and enjoy the rest of your summer.
