Lake Oconee Academy has been and continues to be good stewards of Greene County taxpayer dollars. By achieving excellence both in the classroom and in the community through athletics, the arts, civic organizations, and the local workforce, LOA students perform in such a way that taxpayers can be confident their tax dollars yield superior performance.

1 - PERFORMANCE is a GREAT INVESTMENT
Elementary & Middle School Math
Elementary & Middle School English and Language Arts
2 - EFFICIENCY is a GREAT INVESTMENT
LOA, a National Blue Ribbon School, operates very efficiently as seen below. This efficiency allows us to expand the school by affording lease payments for the high school building, the new fine arts building, and hopefully for a middle school building. By operating efficiently, LOA is also able to offer a wide range of programming from athletics to fine arts. To continue to be successful, LOA needs funding for ALL students being taught at LOA.
LOA is a GREAT INVESTMENT.
3 - FACILITIES are a GREAT INVESTMENT
LOA will be breaking ground soon to construct a new fine arts center. Again, the Foundation Board (non-profit) and LOA worked for two years securing a 2.375% fixed rate, thirty-eight term loan to fund and construct this building on campus. As you know, LOA has a very diverse award-winning arts program. Instruction in art and music enhances the process of learning and provides students with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as development of motor, language and social skills, and appreciation of diversity. Students that participate in arts programs demonstrate improved verbal, reading, and math skills, and also show a greater capacity for higher-ordered thinking skills such as analyzing and problem-solving.
LOA is a GREAT INVESTMENT.
The middle school modular classrooms will be reaching their life expectancy in about five years. LOA hopes to have the permanent middle school building under construction within five years to replace the modulars. After completion, the modulars will be removed and that space will be converted to additional green space providing more outdoor classrooms. Studies show that students receiving high levels of natural light, achieve test scores up to 18% higher than students receiving minimal natural light. Outdoor education and play support emotional, behavioral and intellectual development. Studies have also shown that students who learn outdoors develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, motor skills, self-discipline and initiative. In addition, outdoor classrooms can be used for increasing nature contact and promoting student well-being. Research strongly supports the understanding that nature contact promotes child development and that the lack of nature contact can have negative health outcomes for children.
